What do you mean by changed the ip? in the server.properties? if you changed it in server.properties remove it, if you changed it in your server list and cant connect to that ip you port forwarded wrong. Go to portforward.com choose your router, skip the ad via the button in the top right, choose minecraft and follow the instructions and refresh the server list if that doesnt work wait a few minutes incase the router needs to update and try again.

Is he using an ip like 192.168.x.x or 10.0.x.x? If so you need to lookup your external IP and send him it.

In your friend's server list does the server appear as online?

Did you port forward?

I showed him where the bugs section is. I never gave him the answer, I couldn't even tell what was happening, I simply showed him where the section for help with the launcher is which is what he asked. He wasn't the person to go to see a thread like this and ask for launcher help, in fact if someone does they will see the link to where they should ask for help.
