  1. Why would I? I'd rather use the Technic Launcher and be able to take control of what mods go into it and how it will update in the future. With FTB I'm stuck with what they decide is in the modpack.
  2. Unfortunately no. We're in the process of updating the server to MC 1.5.2 and putting together our own pack for it. Which means rebuilding a lot of the content that was there.
  3. Again, sorry for some of the downtime recently. There were some out of version plugins causing some troubles, but we seem to have the stability issues locked down. Also Dynmap Address has changed, as we are now using separate web server to run it, rather then the internal web server that kept locking up. The address is at the top of the OP StarterKits have also been added to make it easier for new players to get started. includes all wooden tools, and 3 loafs of bread. These are only given to new players on first join, there is no way to buy or request them. A few players have already started Towns. To those who think the Land Deed is too much, it will only take you a few hours to get enough money. Or perhaps one of the other players are willing to take in residents. More residents = More plots for town If anyone has any questions or requests, please feel free to ask them here, or on the www.DarkSideAlliance.com website.
  4. Sorry if anyone experienced server crashes last night. We were running the Dynmap Fullrenders to flesh out the world maps, and it apparently has some issues with NoLagg. The remaining Renders are running today. After that everyone will be able to view the full worlds in dynmap. Also, please take the time to actually read through all the tutorial rooms you start in. It will answer a lot of your questions and save me the time of repeating myself. Brief Starting Guide 1. Read the Tutorials!! 2. Once done with tuts, leave Palace and rent a room in apartment building on right, past the GC Arena. Or you can go to Tatooine and rent a unfurnished house, or Join a player town when they become available. 3. If you need Food, go to Dex's Diner across from Spaceport. Or go hunting for food. 4. Go to Alderaan and mine for whatever you want.(All other worlds you are NOT allowed to build/destroy in the wild, you need a town for that). 5. Sell resources at the Galactic Market Exchange (Hyperconomy shop, in large round building [senate Building]) on Coruscant. 6. Save money and buy a Land Deed from City Assessor in Palace to be able to start your own town. This is so we don't have a ton of smaller, inactive towns. And forces people to work together a little more.
  5. DarkSideAlliance's Star Wars Minecraft Server SERVER IS DOWN!! SERVER IS UNDERGOING UPDATE TO MC 1.5.2 AND UNIQUE MODPACK THAT WILL BE THROUGH TECHNIC LAUNCHER. WILL UPDATE WITH MORE DETAILS AS THEY BECOME AVAILABLE Description The DSA Star Wars Server is an attempt to bring a Star Wars themed MMORPG style game to the minecraft world. We have 6 Planets (Worlds) setup, each with their own unique terrain and resources. Players start out in the Galactic City on Coruscant. After a brief tutorial showing the functions offered within the server you are warped to the Library in the Imperial Palace. Eventually this will be filled with books that have all the help files for the plugins/mods, server rules, guides, etc.. The city itself offers rooms for rent to players, Dex's Diner to buy food, Sapphire bar, Arenas(Spleef, Mob, PVP), shops, the GME (Galactic Market Exchange), factories for rent, the spaceport to travel to other worlds, Coruscant Railways train station to travel to the 4 corners of the map and in between, and more. Players can rent rooms and travel to the mining world of Alderaan, the free mining, non-towny, non protection planet. This planet will get blown up, reset, and reseeded every once in a while. "But you said you use towny, are rentals the only thing I can get?" Not at all. Players may also choose to join a player city and help build a metropolis on any of the worlds (except Alderaan). Or once you save up enough money, you can purchase a town land deed from the City Assessor's office and start your own town. The options are limitless to how you decide to play. Become a great Mayor and run a wondrous metropolis Make your fortunes in the Arenas crushing the next wanna be champions. Specialize in trading and moving those rare resources from outer planets to the market Manufacture great machines from the market resources or refine them to make greater goods. Become a world renowned vender, selling your goods across the galaxy. As the server progresses, NPC quests and other things will be added. Our goal is to create a player driven economy and MMO type style server. This is why the Market starts empty and is only stocked from what players sell to it. If an exploit or flaw in the design in discovered, things may need to be changed or altered to correct it. The server is opening with 20 slots, but if it is seem that more can be handled, the slots will increase. About DSA Dark Side Alliance is a multi-platform online gaming Clan/Community. We pride ourselves on our Dedication, Organization, Tactics, Teamwork and Sportsmanship. Besides the Minecraft server, DSA has gaming divisions for the PS3 and Xbox 360, with Battalions in various games, including BF3, CoD, GoW, Socom, Warhark and more. The DSA enlists only those who are able to work in a mature team environment. Community The server has been under development for almost a year. Most of that was waiting for mod and plugins to update with features needed to make a lot of this work. This is the first initial advertising of the server and opening to the public. We hope to build a friendly and fun Star Wars experience for everyone that joins. The Admins are those part of the DarkSideAlliance.com gaming community/clan, a friendly, team oriented, group of gamers that game together regularly on the PS3 and Xbox. Texture Pack To get the full Star Wars Experience, we HIGHLY recommend using the MineWars texture pack from Yokoolio, who did a fantastic job on this pack. All images posted here that you see are taken with this pack, and the server was designed around it. Other packs will work, but we feel you will be missing the true Star Wars feel without it. Some issues have been noticed with the 1.2.5 version of Minewars and Tekkit. Mainly when loading into the game with the pack already set, you will get a MISSINGTEXTURE message overlay-ed on the screen in dark areas. Switching to another pack and back to the Minewars pack fixes this problem. The problem has been isolated to the Moon and Sun images being 64bit, when it is a 16bit pack. We have developed a modified Minewars pack for our server which uses 16bit replacements. It also changes the mobs to reflect a more imperial based world. - Skeletons are Rebels - Zombies are Wookies - Zombie Pigmen are Jedi Regardless of these changes, Full credit and respect goes to Yokoolio for developing the textures and everything in this pack. If you learn more towards the Rebel Scum, and to download Yokoolio's original Texture Pack, go to http://www.planetminecraft.com/texture_pack/mine-wars For a more Imperial Friendly version, or if you experience any issues with the original texture pack, you can download our modified pack from HERE Server Specs AMD Phenom II x4 940 8GB DDR3 RAM (More can be allocated if needed) Windows Server 2008 Brief Starting Guide 1. 6. After countless searching, and repeatedly ending up at this thread, I decided to do some testing to see how to get the custom block IDs (140:1) to actually work with TerrainControl. I finally get to give something back to the community with my first post. To get the custom Ore blocks to work, you have to add the resources towards the bottom of Biomeconfig file for the biome you want the resources to show up in. Then enter the ID:Data with a PERIOD instead of a Colon, as such. Ore(140,32,10,100,0,128,STONE) Ore(140.1,32,10,100,0,128,STONE) Ore(140.2,32,10,100,0,128,STONE) Ore(140.3,32,10,100,0,128,STONE) Ore(140.4,32,10,100,0,128,STONE) Ore(140.5,32,10,100,0,128,STONE) Ore(140.6,32,10,100,0,128,STONE) Ore(140.7,32,10,100,0,128,STONE) I haven't tried with anything else but the Ores, but I assume it would work for the rubber trees and anything else using the ID:data parameter. EDIT: Saplings work, as well as oil. Oil you have to place with the Ore option, NOT Liquid. Plant(X139.1,4,100,0,128,GRASS,DIRT,X197) Plant(X241,4,100,0,128,GRASS,DIRT,X197) Ore(X162,10,1,100,0,32,STONE) Be careful with placing the oil. If it's too abundant, it will cause a lot of lag or lock up the client. The one above places a 10 block pool below 32 blocks, and is as frequent as diamond ore.
