  1. Re: "cracked"

There's a server configuration file that has a property regarding the online mode of the server. IF the server is not online, it doesn't authenticate to minecraft.net but anyone with the IP will be able to login and grief the shit out of your server. Found that out the hard way.

Yeah, I was going to recommend this. However, if your server IP is published then you're probably going to want to steer away from doing that. You might just want to consider running the server over your internal network if you and your brother want to play. Of course, your friends won't be able to join.

If your server IP has not been published, then ErusPrime's solution is what you need.

  2. Yeah, the launcher is an impressive piece of work and the fact it's all based on open source coding makes me feel better than if it were a privately housed project. Like noob said, you can crack it open and poke around if you're not feeling super great about it.

The integrity the technic crew has displayed with each release really hasn't put a doubt in my mind that what they're doing is legit. They've made it easier for users to install mods and more beneficial for mod makers because it's an easy install for users, so they get more exposure to the mods and are more apt to donating.

  3. I'm waiting for someone to come up with a mod called "Just Enough Items".

On another note, if anyone ever rewrites Better Than Wolves to not suck, they should call it By The Way.

I was thinking Better Than Flowers, but that works too.

  4. I tried building the basic low voltage power converter but nothing came up in the crafting table window.... but I see it in the item inventory window... is it a different recipe then the websites/wiki say?

I'm assuming you're playing Tekkit, because unless you're talking about an LV transformer, power converters did not make it into technic.

What you can do, is select the block on the right, hit R to get the recipe, and follow it. It should work.

  5. Hey!

I am requesting help about Technic. I love playing Minecraft, even with monsters. However, I don't want to go into creating all this cool stuff, and then have a creeper to destroy it all. So, I was wondering if someone could help me with two things.

    1. Find a mod that will allow me to just disable Creepers. I want all the other mobs.

    2. Help find a way to add it into the Technic Pack.

Any help would be appreciated on this subject.

    Thanks.

You'll also want to turn off ogres then.

  6. Right. I learned this recently and I've been using Technic for awhile. You can convert EU to MJ by connecting your Industrialcraft power to an electrical engine which is part of Forestry. The electrical engine will emit MJ which you can use for buildcraft stuff. This is pretty handy if you don't want to mess around with having to pump oil or supply coal to steam engines (or build a massive block of redpower engines). Also, Industrialcraft has a far superior way of storing and providing energy. I say this though, with very little knowledge of how blutricity works. Mostly because I have no desire to know.

  7. I've usually got quite a bit of tin and copper lying around in addition to iron. So I'm not terribly concerned about resources. I have been playing the infq seed and uncovered many resource rich tunnels that I don't even need right now. I also usually skip the batbox and go right for the MFE. Between EE and Thaumcraft I can usually squeak out enough diamonds to get that going.

But the tin cable thing just really makes a whole lot of sense. I should've done the math but I'm lazy and just want to horde energy for the eventual apocalypse of flying second life penises.

  8. No point in using anything but tin cable for going from renewable generators (solar, wind, water) to your first energy storage. Solar and water will never give more than 1 or 2 EU/t, and wind generators conveniently break themselves if their generation ever goes above 5EU/t (can only be reached in a thunderstorm if the windmill is above height 80).

It never occured to me to use tin wiring at all, but what you say makes a ton of sense. So, thank you!

I swear I learn something new about this stuff every day.

  9. Question 1: Which solar panels are you using? Blutricity ones via Redpower, or the IC2 ones.

Question 2: Are you using Redpower solar panels with IC2 circuitry (that won't work)

Assuming we're talking straight IC2, do you have the following:

    1. Unobstructed daylight

    2. Either:

    a. Batteries in your solar panel(s)

    b. Wires leading from your solar flower to a batbox, MFE, or MFS?

    3. Are you using long copper wire? If so, you might be experiencing severe energy degradation. This can be solved by moving your storage closer to the flower, or using glass fiber cables (expensive to make).

Also, Technic has been updated to Technic 6 (for some time now), so good luck using backdated crap.

  10. Re: why wont tmi work?

I still disagree. Every time this problem has been encountered, the root cause is invariably waterfowl in the central processing core. A quick call to the manufacturer can usually resolve this issue, but does anyone listen? NOOOOooooo.

Well yeah, I mean that -is- a possibility. However every time I call the manufacturer I get some dude on the line who is trying to tell me what he's wearing.

  11. Re: why wont tmi work?

can someone tell me why tmi wont work?

is it not supposed to work?

or there a button i click?

This is a problem that's affecting a lot of people. You're probably running into an ID-10t error. There really is nothing that can be done when this error comes up. You can read around and look for a solution, but otherwise you're sort of out of luck.

    Sorry!

  12. well i play at school where the connection is really slow.

Cheapshot was kind enough to inform you how to resolve by utilizing Offline Mode.

And i really don't like the technic launcher because I it just does not look appealing to me and i just does not feel like the real minecraft to me when I play on the launcher.

It baffles me that something as simple as a launcher can ruin your whole minecraft experience. Particularly when this launcher offers you multiple ways to play minecraft. Not only that but everything that was said prior in regards to fixes and updates. So it might not appeal to you visually, but the functionality is far superior to that of the normal minecraft launcher.

You sir, baffle me. Other than how it looks, what is your motivation for not using the launcher?

  13. As far as I know, advanced machines are installed already.

For the test build, go into options and you'll see options to manually select the build.

Your post was horrible. Just saying.
