I actually thought it was a great idea when I heard about it, until I thought how could this could be acceptable when modders can be so restrictive on pack rights.
If I create a website I can have it not be listed on Google, if I create a mod I should be able to have it not listed here.
I'm not asking to have all posts monitored. But if a modder doesn't want their mod to be used in packs posted on this site I think it's reasonable to have it be removed to prevent continued use.
You're not just indexing already created packs. You're promoting the use/ creation of custom public packs.
Google indexes sites and you can request the search engine not to do so. So in a way an index is responsible for the content.
Prior to the Technic Platform, public modpack builders (ie FTB) would ask permission from the respected mod developers and that would determine whether it would be entered as part of the pack. Why would that same principle not apply to these packs?
How is Technic Platform going to handle modpacks that contain mods which their owners didn't give proper permissions?
I can see this site upsetting a lot of modders.
I'll stand from a distance and see what happens for a few days before I try and post any packs.
Disable EE and ban quantum and PvP/ balancing will be fine. Although everyone will have nano rendering all other armor/weapon type useless. If you want to maintain vanilla style combat ban nano too.
Oh and also allow griefing/ raiding because if you use factions (your only good option) it won't protect other players from accessing metal chests (unless you patch it) and they can steal from machines and advanced tables. It'll be way too challenging to control all that.
This thread was annoying to read. Here's a new rule: No off topic arguments.
There's a video on the wiki showing a setup with ~120EU/t without needing any cooling time and no exploding.
Good setup regardless for doing it on your own.
