  1. It may be how your archive program works on your system. Instead of just double clicking the archive to open it, try using the context menu (right click on the item) and select "open archive" or whatever the equivalent is for your archive program.
  2. Yes, give the gold wires double insulation. To avoid shock damage wires that need insulation should be insulated to the maximum for each type. You can use less insulation, and still suffer less damage that uninsulated wire, but no damage is of course preferable. :)
  3. Yeah, sucks when you save somewhere in a mine and all the blocks are replaced when you log in. Long suffocation death! As for stepping back the mod pack/launcher version, you still run into the same problem with not having your original save files. Don't know if it will help your textures problem, but you might try switching back to the default textures, log out and back in, then switch back to your favourite texture pack. That usually sorts out my texture gitches, though I've never had fire icons in my ground blocks before. In the end, if I find I have to rebuild my world, I just stay in the updated world unless something essential is broken. But the best case scenario is always backing up all those saves before updates. Regards.
  4. Launcher Version: Tekkit 3.1.3 Operating System: Windows Vista 32 bit, service pack 2, all up to date Java Version: version 7 update 9 (latest recommended) Antivirus Program: n/a Description of Problem: All inventories of all alchemy bags disappear when launching the technic pack in offline mode. I did a bunch of testing and it seems that there are two sets of alchemy bag inventories, one for online and one for offline. I'm sure it's a bug of some sort. But it seems to be related to the launcher itself. If I switch between online and offline play without exiting the game, it will stick with which ever inventory I started with. However, if I exit the game and switch from offline to online (or online to offline), then restart the launcher, the alchemy bags then switch to the second inventory (it starts off empty, but I put different stuff in so I could track the switches). This also occurs in Technic as well as Tekkit. So, you don't permanently loose the inventory. A temporary fix is just to only play in online mode. But the error seems to be related to the launcher and how it accesses the files in offline mode. I don't know enough about programming or Java to understand, but it is a reproducable, non-fatal error. Also, I checked my ender bag and it seems unaffected by this error. In the meantime, I guess I just won't play offline when my internet fails. Thanks. 5. So far as I know, an error like that gets saved when you log out. That's why you're supposed to back up your worlds before updating. If you had a world back-up you could have just back stepped the launcher upgrade and then copied your old world to the "saves" folder. Live and learn. The next best solution for you now would be to use NEI to restore your non-vanilla items (to the best of your memory). I had to do that once after a crash that cause a similar problem. Fortunately, I had also done a recent back up of my entire "Saves" folder, so I only had to replace a few of the items I had build since that back-up. The moral of the story, don't click "yes" to the update prompt until you have backed up all your worlds in all your Technic Pack games packs. You get lazy, you pay for it in the end. :(
  6. Wow, haven't be by in a while, but I see you folks have come up with some good suggestions. I ended up abandoning that particular world, but found the same problem coming up with other worlds from time to time. This time round, I tried to be careful about what tech I added and ran, for how long and which ones I ran concurrently. It is a complex problem, because there are so many things that can cause the same issue. My most common cause was running timers too fast for my system. As long as I avoid setting them too fast, I can still run several factories concurrently. I still get some lag, but not the "lag spike of death". I discovered this when I experienced the LSD no more that 30 seconds after ramping up a timer on my darkroom. I managed to shut the thing off and lag stopped almost immediately. After experimenting a little, I found that the limit for timers on my system was .700. I now have a dark room diamond maker, HV Solar Array factory, Blaze rod-EMC fabricatoring machine, and an automatic UU-matter fabricating machine. I can run them all with acceptable lag. When the lag gets annoying, I just shut something off for a while. Another thing that often does not occur to SSP players is large numbers of item drops. In the first version of my solar panel factory I was not using pneumatic tubes. Whenever a machine jammed or chest got full, of course, I got a lot of items spilling and bobbing around. When you get a few stacks of items bobbing on the floor there is tremendous lag. The lag would disappear as I picked the items up. Eventually I got tired of trying to perfect the timing between each stage of the factory and switched to pneumatic tubes. Another thing that really causes issues for me is my anti-virus software, which seems to be a resource pig, even when I am running it at "low resource" settings. In fact, when I am experiencing pronounced lag, the first thing I do is check to see if my anti-virus scanning software is running a scheduled scan. If I am playing during the scheduled scan, I end up cancelling the scan and running it after closing Minecraft. Thanks for brainstorming on this, folks. You've given me and everyone who reads this thread lots of possible solutions to their LSD problems. Cheers.

    TEKKIT NEI

Perhaps it means someone forgot to include the NEI-IC2 patch for the recipes. Just means it will be added to the recommended version when they finalized it. No biggie, it happens. ******** Had a look at the IC2 Forums and it is a bug with NEI's latest update that causes a crash when accessing recipes for IC2 items. Probably will not be a problem as things get updated to the next versions of NEI and Minecraft for Tekkit 4.0. There is a suggested temporary fix that recommends deleting a certain NEI file in the NEI jar. You can find it in the forum under the topic "Incompatibility with Not Enough Items 1.3". Personally, I know enough IC2 recipes for it not to bother me. But as with any other mod that doesn't have recipes listed in NEI, I just go to the mod recipe page and save it as a file to my desktop for quick reference. That way, I have the recipes handy for any that I am unfamiliar with. By the way, I do not recommend using the plugin offered by Mistaqur as it too, currently does not work. My Minecraft crashed when I tried it. If you find all of this too much of a bother and really just want your recipes back you can just go into the Technic Launcher options and reset the version to the previous recommended build until the next recommended build is finalized. Easy fix. Cheers
  8. Been playing an ssp world on my tekkit recently. It suddenly slowed down to 1 fps. I have a slower machine, but my settings are optimized and it has always been able to handle the load. I have loaded other world saves and do not have this problem. Only this one map I have been working on for a while is lagging like this. I have checked allocated memory and it is the same as my other world maps. I tried shutting down everything and restarting (all the way down to a cold boot), but I am still stuck in 1 fps lag. I looked around the forums and have not found other posts describing this particular problem. Could someone help me troubleshoot this. I'd hate to have to delete my map.
  9. Don't recall ever having seen it under Technic, then again I haven't been using the Technic Launcher for very long. However, does appear under Tekkit. Perhaps you were thinking of Tekkit.
