To get it off the screen go in to task manager -> processes and close java

I deleted the already disabled AVG and looks like that fixed it, didn't realise it would be affecting it. Thanks.

Doesn't work with both Tekkit and Technic, I've tried all the common fixes such as deleting the .technicpack folder and re installing it I'm getting download failed every time i try to install the launcher, i actually had it installed and it crashed and wouldn't update, i deleted it and now can't install. Same problem except i never get past the down load failed point and I've tried all the same fixes but none work.

Re: Download failed I'm having the same problem, using the same launcher and java 7 but with 32bit not 64bit windows 7
