You probably got this solved but in case anyone else encounters it, like I did yesterday, there might be another issue which I never came across while googling. I have 12GB of RAM, and it wouldn't work, after previously working, following a fresh windows 64bit install. The issue was that my browser (Chrome) is only a 32bit browser and therefore when it went to the Java download page, it automatically assigned me the 32bit version of Java - when I needed the 64bit version to allow it to access all my memory. I needed to go to the manual Java download page (http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp) to get the 64bit version. After that installed it worked without issue.
