For some reason all of my multiplayer servers say this when I try to join them: Internal exception: java.net.SocketException: Connection reset. Anybody know what to do?

I have been banned from one server once but I have no idea why. One day I was helping some people and the next day I get banned.

I'm quite knew to minecraft so this is obviously a stupid question but how do I join the server?
