Version: 1.0.1.3

OS: mac osx v 10.7.4

Java Version: Java 7 update 5

Description of Problem:

the technic launcher refuses to start of I am not connected to the internet. while connected, it works fine; while disconnected, it gives an "applescript has encountered an error" message.

Error Messages:

the action run applescript encountered an error. check the actions properties and try running the workflow again.

Error Log:

there isn't one, the launcher never actually starts.

alright Diablo warlord, i think i formatted it correctly this time. i have checked all over the forums and the stickies and i haven't found anything relating to this. i have found a few people reporting applescript errors, but it has always been with old macs or incorrect software. i have also not seen anyone reporting this error only when the internet was down.

I've only recently started MC, and even more recently just became a forum member; however, despite my lack of *cough* experience, I noticed your first problem begins with incorrect error report formatting. The second issue is your use of Apple products, but I admit respect for your determination to play MC. Also, I may be calling the sky blue, but you may want to check the main forum board's stickies. Hope this attempt to partially answer your question helped in some slight way without too many offending slights.

Corrected: I can confirm this. No info on stickies about this, nor mention that this is purely an online game. Oh, and macs are awesome. Sorry if you're too poor to ever experience what quality is.

indeo, your post offers no information that would help either OP or me. You begin to create a fantasy based off of your twisted illusions about others and the way you've interpreted their actions. Please point out to me where I stated this was a game uniquely built for smp? Also, please direct me to where I stated Apple products were inferior or not "awesome?" Finally, please tell me how you would even begin to theorize that you know me?

Please, don't reply to my questions. I already know the answers, they were only stated in hopes you come down to reality and actualize some common sense.

Mac kind of sucks, because of this and many other reasons. This happens for Windows as well.

The fix is to download the .jar of the launcher and run that.

See, the MAC app or .exe tries to connect to the internet, but it can't (no internet!) so it crashes because it went into an unexpected error. Only in Windows, it's programmed to connect, and if there is no update to run the .jar in your %appdata%\.techniclauncher folder, and it does that eventually, it takes the app a while to crash. Mac, on the other hand, crashes immediately but doesn't do anything else.

I know I am dumb, but where can I find the .jar of the launcher? Is that the one on the main technic pack website?

As far as I know, Mac usually unzips .zip files when you double click it (my friend has a mac). Try renaming the extension to .jar, and if that doesn't work, use the Mac OS X application to download the .jar file (I use Windows, so the app downloads the launcher to your %appdata%\.techniclauncher and runs it) and see if that will work. Most browsers mistake .jar files and rename them to .zip (my copy of Opera usually does that, it's annoying) so I need to manually rename it to .jar.
