Technic Launcher on Linux...

Ok, so I can run any modpack on my gaming computer at home (Windows 7).
But, the only modpack that will run on my laptop (Linux) is Tekkit Lite.
Yes, I have allocated 3 GB of RAM to my Java, and that's plenty, right? :)

What?! I have Java 7...

AND, some modpacks I have don't work with Java 8, so i'm not sure if I want to do that...

EDIT: Just found out I have Java 6 AND Java 7, but i'm running the Technic Launcher with Java 7.
I tried uninstalling Java 6 and just having Java 7, but then nothing that used java ran at all. And no, I didn't remove Java 7.
Linux is 10x more confusing then it needs to be...
