Why won't technic launcher launch on my mac?

Whenever I try to login to my account it says "An error has occurred while attempting to reach authserver.mojang.com " I've tried reinstalling it and the problem hasn't gone away.

checking this site http://xpaw.ru/mcstatus/ is advised, in case the Minecraft login servers were down at the moment.

If they aren't and you still can't connect then make sure you don't have any security software that blocks the launcher

Antivirus, firewall, NetNanny or Webproxy to name a few can cause problems.
