Sionwolf Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 No matter what i select for it to allocate it only allocates 247MB to game. I'm running windows 7 32bit Enterprise edition with 16GB Ram. Quote
0 YouDRUNKEN Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 You should switch to 64bit because 32bit cannot use 16G of RAM Quote
0 Sionwolf Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 I've already turned on PAE. Quote
0 YouDRUNKEN Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Then the actual problem exists within technic loader I seem to be having exact problem just mine won't go above 1G Quote
0 Cheap Shot Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 32 bit systems CANNOT make use of that much ram. You need to upgrade to a 64 bit OS or you will never ever get the full potential of your RAM. You are sabotaging yourself, this has nothing to do with the launcher. Also as an added note, minecraft runs worse with more ram allocated. It's actually better to keep it at 1gig or under. Quote
0 agelian Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 You need BOTH 64bit OS AND 64bit Java to go over 1.8gb heap memory for java. having 16gb on a 32bit system is pretty useless Quote
0 Sionwolf Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 Problem that is my normal version of minecraft is allocated over a GB of ram but no matter what i do cannot get over 247MB of allocation using the launcher. Quote
0 gooseer Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 It doesn't matter, currently something has went wrong with the Technic pack. Trying to set an allocation spot closes the launcher. Log also show md5 mismatches as well. Quote

You may just be confused. The allocation of ram sets the MAX amount of ram. You should never actually have to use that much. If it's running correctly it should be saying that you are using around that number 247MB and it should be a percent of 1GB. Quote
