Description of Problem:

The computer hosting the computer, and another computer in the same house area able to login to the server; however, a friend tried to join but, was given the error of invalid player name detected. I looked for a fix to the error for a few days and i gave up and resorted to asking for help. i tried trouble shooting by adding his name to the whitelist. i also tried to see if it was a problem with his name, i was able to use his username and password to login to the server and i was successful, i then proceeded to ask him to try to log in again and he got the same error. I really need help, i am willing to be cooperative, use correct grammar and use syntax, to give you faith in the human race. please help me solve this issue.

Is he running in offline mode for some reason, or with a cracked client? Either of those will result in this problem.

We have the server running offline, and we all use cracked clients. is there a way to fix the problem though, so he can play.

After a few weeks of pretty much begging my friend, he finally decide to buy an account so we could play and make tekkit vids and tuts. Though when he tried to sign, we still got the same error. Well, he did and i feel really bad because i made him buy an account and it still wont work. Can you please help us?

Check the following:

- does he run the official tekkit launcher and not a cracked one

- does it run in online mode

- do you run the server in online mode

- can he play normal minecraft without errors

- can he connect to normal minecraft servers

Online as in he inputs his uesrname and pass? Yes.

No we run offline because thats what we are used to doing.

We have not tried. i while back ago though i had another be able to join my minecraft server.

He only got the account to play tekkit and has not tried that yet.
