joe.macker Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 I am trying to store my power generated from redstone engines in a batbox here is my setup:
xtrasyn Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 I can't see the images but I think you will need the engines to connect to wooden conductive pipes and then connect those to any other conductive pipe and that should go into an energy link or a engine transformer - and then it can go in to a batbox or MFSU or whatever.
Beer Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Energy Links are for converting EU to MJ. You want the engine generators to convert power. Use the right voltage, so if you're hooking it into a line that's running LV, use the LV Energy Generator.
xtrasyn Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Ah yes I assumed they worked the other way around too even though never trying that so thanks.
joe.macker Posted July 28, 2012 Author Posted July 28, 2012 I don't think the pictures are working but I have: Redstone Engine -> Wood Conductive Pipe -> Gold Conductive Pipe -> Engine Generator (HV) -> Insulated Copper Wire -> Batbox
Beer Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Ah yes I assumed they worked the other way around too even though never trying that so thanks. If that were the case, then Engine Generators would be completely unnecessary. I don't think the pictures are working but I have: Redstone Engine -> Wood Conductive Pipe -> Gold Conductive Pipe -> Engine Generator (HV) -> Insulated Copper Wire -> Batbox What xtrasyn said. You're trying to hook up a high voltage current to a low voltage line. You'll want to not do that, unless you want everything on that LV line to blow up.
xtrasyn Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Never used those either, just knew of their existence. I find the whole engine thing rather messy in all honesty so I avoid it like Typhoid Mary.
joe.macker Posted July 28, 2012 Author Posted July 28, 2012 I tried using Engine Generator (LV) and it still didn't work, and I have like 15 Redstone Engines.
joe.macker Posted July 28, 2012 Author Posted July 28, 2012 No I do not see any of the blue electricity going through the pipes.
Beer Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 How much copper wire are you using? If it's more than 5, you're losing current every 5th insulated copper wire. No I do not see any of the blue electricity going through the pipes. The wooden conductive pipes need to be touching the glowy bits of the redstone engines. You also need a LOT of redstone engines to generate enough power to have it viable and sustainable EU.
joe.macker Posted July 29, 2012 Author Posted July 29, 2012 My Redstone Engines are touching the wood combustion pipes, and I have 32 Redstone Engines and it is still not working. Could it be the length of my gold combustion pipes to my Engine Generator I have about 64?
Beer Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 To be honest, I'm not entirely sure. I don't use buildcraft anymore and when I did, I seldom used buildcraft energy pipes unless it couldn't be helped. It sounds like you've got things rigged up right, but you may be experiencing some loss of energy somewhere in your piping. If you've got a lot of it, that might be it. But honestly, ditch buildcraft, especially if you're trying to generate EU. There are far easier and cheaper ways to do that.
