you have said you have tried to create a vanilla server before and it worked? try porting the server properties across or just delete the server properties and let the server recreate one.

heres a quote from a bukkit thread on how to setup a server using hamachi

Hamachi:

  1. You obviously need Hamachi for this to work. Hamachi is probably the easiest way to let people from around the world join your server. Download it here.
  2. To run a hamachi server you need to configure your server.properties file as follows:
    • server-ip - leave this blank
    • server port - leave this as default (25565)
    • You may or may not have to set online-mode to false for it to work.

[*]Open up Hamachi. If you have not already created a new network, do so now. This is what other users will use to connect to your network and join your server

[*]When you give out your ip address for other people to join, make sure you use your hamachi one (should be something like 5.64.312.48)

actually heres the thing if you are using hamachi you dont need to port forward as hamachi acts as a lan network or VPN and if you are port forwarding you dont need to use hamachi.
