How do you set waypoints

How do you set waypoints i cant find it out anywhere so i am asking

Or use the period key to go to the menu, where you can click Waypoints and add or remove them from there. Double-clicking on an existing waypoint name or clicking on its color allows you to change either, as well.

I've looked on several websites. If neither of those work, Try "M" or "~"
