Spawn too far from the End Island

Question

Title: Spawn too far from the End Island

Version: 3.1.1

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Java Version: 7.4

Description of Problem:

Whenever traveling through the End Portal, instead of spawning at the main End land, I spawn at the coordinates that the End Portal was in the overland except in the End. This causes the main body of the End to be many hundreds of blocks away and nearly impossible to reach. We spawn on a small square about 5*5 of obsidian and have no way to leave except to jump off.

I have found at least 5 other threads about this same problem recently.

None of which have been responded with an answer.

Have you tried a new world? Or deleting the end world and trying a new seed? (May cause your main world to start generating differently). If it works with a new world (remember to backup your old world), then it's probably just an issue with your seed. Have you tried the seed in vanilla Minecraft?

I have tried deleting the end world several times and I get a similar result each time. I would like to try to keep my existing world if possible, but I can start a new one if I have to. I will try the seed again in Vanilla Minecraft.

How do I find the seed?

So this is based on the seed and I will have to create a new world, then?

Or make a bridge there. I did one part way with redpower frame thingie.

An interesting idea, though I'll probably just end up moving all of my stuff to a new seed with MCedit or something along those lines. It wouldn't be a problem except it's so far away.

If anyone finds a real solution feel free to post, but I guess I know what i'm going to do.

Did you manually build a portal, or is this the actual end portal? From my experience, the 5x5 Obsidian platform you spawn on is created relevant to the over world position of the end portal. Creating an end portal can spawn you miles from the end mainland if the portal is far from the natural end portal. In my case, we had two manually built end portals quite close to each other. Upon travelling through both, we found two 5x5 obsidian platforms roughly the same distance apart as the portals were. We were nowhere near the end mainland. I do not know any solution for it.

We went to an actual End Portal. The overworld coordinates of the portal were roughly 1050,200 (x,z) and that's where we come out in the End. I can fly to the main land so I know it's there, it's just at the origin (0,0), and we're not. I built an end portal at (0,0) in the overworld and it seems to be working.

It's okay I guess. I was trying to avoid cheating but, oh well.

You could always just world edit the island over to your portal, if you wanted it connected to the first portal. I don't know how the dragon would react to it though, but the endermen should spawn on the new island.

It was quite interesting the first time I went through the man-made end portal, there were 9 ender dragons :D

I died promptly.

In any case the portal at the origin seems to have fixed the problem for now. I'll have to try with a different seed later I guess.
