g2geo94 Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Okay, now that I'm past the daunting title, I'm lost. Like entirely (realll helpful, right?) Anyways, as the title suggests, Ive been using Bukkit for a while now. Then work of Tekkit started showing. I researched, as have all my users (who want a Tekkit server now, and out of me). So I downloaded the server files from the Tekkit homepage. Stuck 'em in a folder of their own (~/tekkit), and decided to launch without further configuration. Apparently this was a mistake, as one of the mods do not appear to be working. But I'm not sure which. The only information I could pull from the error blocks was "mod_Nether0res : Unsupported major.minor version 51.0" ...But even that told me nothing. I'm at a complete loss as to what to do here, so I'll go ahead and include full details on the error. Hopefully you guys can understand what is going on or otherwise what stupid mistake I've made. 2012-08-05 21:19:41 [WARNING] Failed to load mod class net/minecraft/server/mod_NetherOres.class in /home/minecraft/tekkit/mods/mod_NetherOres.jar 2012-08-05 21:19:41 [FINER] THROW java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: net/minecraft/server/mod_NetherOres : Unsupported major.minor version 51.0 at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1(Native Method) at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass(ClassLoader.java:634) at java.security.SecureClassLoader.defineClass(SecureClassLoader.java:142) at java.net.URLClassLoader.defineClass(URLClassLoader.java:277) at java.net.URLClassLoader.access$000(URLClassLoader.java:73) at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:212) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:205) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:321) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:294) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:314) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:266) at java.lang.Class.forName0(Native Method) at java.lang.Class.forName(Class.java:264) at cpw.mods.fml.common.Loader.loadModClass(Loader.java:494) at cpw.mods.fml.common.Loader.attemptFileLoad(Loader.java:562) at cpw.mods.fml.common.Loader.load(Loader.java:419) at cpw.mods.fml.common.Loader.loadMods(Loader.java:606) at cpw.mods.fml.server.FMLBukkitHandler.onPreLoad(FMLBukkitHandler.java:134) at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.init(MinecraftServer.java:135) at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.run(MinecraftServer.java:438) at net.minecraft.server.ThreadServerApplication.run(SourceFile:492) 2012-08-05 21:19:41 [sEVERE] Zip file mod_NetherOres.jar failed to read properly 2012-08-05 21:19:41 [FINER] THROW cpw.mods.fml.common.LoaderException: java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: net/minecraft/server/mod_NetherOres : Unsupported major.minor version 51.0 at cpw.mods.fml.common.Loader.loadModClass(Loader.java:527) at cpw.mods.fml.common.Loader.attemptFileLoad(Loader.java:562) at cpw.mods.fml.common.Loader.load(Loader.java:419) at cpw.mods.fml.common.Loader.loadMods(Loader.java:606) at cpw.mods.fml.server.FMLBukkitHandler.onPreLoad(FMLBukkitHandler.java:134) at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.init(MinecraftServer.java:135) at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.run(MinecraftServer.java:438) at net.minecraft.server.ThreadServerApplication.run(SourceFile:492) Caused by: java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: net/minecraft/server/mod_NetherOres : Unsupported major.minor version 51.0 at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1(Native Method) at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass(ClassLoader.java:634) at java.security.SecureClassLoader.defineClass(SecureClassLoader.java:142) at java.net.URLClassLoader.defineClass(URLClassLoader.java:277) at java.net.URLClassLoader.access$000(URLClassLoader.java:73) at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:212) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:205) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:321) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:294) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:314) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:266) at java.lang.Class.forName0(Native Method) at java.lang.Class.forName(Class.java:264) at cpw.mods.fml.common.Loader.loadModClass(Loader.java:494) ... 7 more 2012-08-05 21:19:41 [iNFO] File mod_NetherOres.jar contained no mods Thanks in advance for any help offered. -Geoffrey Leader and Founder of Minecraft Red Team Quote
edywang Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I think you'll need to update Java because the Nether Ores mod needs it. Don't feel bad if I'm wrong though cause I didn't rly read all the way through the error report Quote
g2geo94 Posted August 6, 2012 Author Posted August 6, 2012 Well Edy, as much as do not wish to seemingly hate on your answer nor your knowledge of this (and similar) situations, I do hope that your answer is not actually the solution, as I'm running on Ubuntu Server, where Java can be rather difficult to deal with. Are there any other seasoned Tekkit server ops who can provide further help, whether to confirm his answer or to provide another solution altogether? Thanks, Geoffrey Quote
edywang Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I'm not sure about the admins of this forum but they may be able to help u and i'm sure they'll be more experienced with situations such as yours. Quote
Nentify Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I'm afraid he's correct, you need to update to Java 7. Quote
Cheap Shot Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Java 7 is mandatory unfortunately. Don't sign your posts. Signature free posts are also mandatory. Quote
