if i use the wrench on an iron pipe it does nothing so i can change the 1way direction.

Technic pack has many wrenches, the one you are looking for here is grey.

Yeah, you need the one that uses a stone gear and 3 iron ingots for the recipe. Redstone can also change iron pipe orientation.

And if you're using multiple directions on the iron pipe but don't want the redstone to change it to an unwanted direction, use wooden pipes on those excluded sides. Iron pipes never send items back to a wooden pipe if it's right next to it.
