This is probably a newbie question. Oh well, I am what I am, so thanks in advance.

I play on a bukkit server and several of the people there are interested in Tekkit. Some, though, are not. We're divided about 50/50. What I'm wondering is, is it possible to use Multiverse or some other program to have Bukkit and Tekkit worlds running side by side on the same server, with the ability to go back and forth between using portals? We don't want to leave anyone out, but at the same time some people want to try the great stuff in Tekkit.

The Tekkit server currently run on a version of bukkit, most bukkit plugins still work (apparently a couple don't but none of the ones i use have had any issues so far)

Quick answer to your specific quesiton: no

Bukkit and Tekkit require different clients, and passing back and forth will not work.

It IS possible to run two different, not-connected servers on the same -Dedicated- server. I say dedicated, because you're going to run into resource issues if you try to run both on a VPS, even if you figure out how to run both. It's the same as running multiple Bukkit servers on the same machine. I've ran 3 on a dedi at one time before.

That being said, you COULD link the chats from the two differnt servers together using an IRC plugin or something similar to keep the community talking with each other, but they'd have to log into their other client to join the 2nd server.

Thanks very much. i was afraid that was the case.

As a follow up, then... is it possible to run everything under Tekkit... but restrict everything so much in one world that it's essentially the same as running Bukkit? Not sure how clear that question is, but hopefully you know what I'm asking.
