I used to have the technic launcher on an old computer with no problems and now am using a different computer

Whenever I start the launcher it opens for a second, says "checking launcher version" then closes

what am I doing wrong

The old computer was running windows 7 64 bit, this computer is running XP 32 bit

The regular minecraft launcher works fine, just not the technic pack launcher

EDIT: I used the jar instead of the exe and now it works

from what I can tell it might be an issue with the fact that my root drive is the letter H and not C

I don't know when or how this happened but I think the technic launcher may not be able to find java

also, i found this:

Problem: When using the launcher, It opens, says "Checking Launcher Version" And then shuts down. Spout does not open afterwards.

Reason: Unknown.

Solution: Go to AppData\Roaming\.techniclauncher and open the techniclauncher.jar file in java. It will open the launcher, and will let you play technic through spout.

Try making sure your java has the same bits as your operating system. For example, if your operating system is 32 bits, your java should be 32 bits. If it is 64 bits, use 64 bit java, not 32 bit. This worked for me and it should help you.
