I got the exact same problem

You really don't need to quote the whole post just to say that. I fixed it.

Anyway, what actual launcher version do either of you have? This error can be caused by having a rather old launcher. I recommend getting a new one, and next time post the actual launcher version number.

Okay. I recommend a new launcher anyway, as there have been some updates that didn't get version number revs, mostly to deal with the MC 1.3 update. You may also want to delete your .techniclauncher\tekkit folder and reinstall. Make backups of everything, of course.

You said you allocated as much memory as possible, so how much memory does your system have total? (assuming the launcher let you allocate about 1.5gb?)

Did you try just using the JAR file from http://www.technicpack.net/download/ ?

Also, at this stage in the startup of tekkit, it's not likely to be the cause, but try disabling Norton, as it may still play a role (if you havent already)

I know how fix it, delete the .techniclauncher folder then download the linux file, even if your on windows, then right click and go open with java then choose technic and it works.

lol my thoughts exactly....so I assume that did fix your issue then from the thread you started? :)

OP: let us know if that does indeed resolve the issue. The launcher is not always kind to 32-bit operating systems (or vice versa). The Jar file does work, but only MOST of the time, so keep this in mind.

ALL: and actually, a fun fact for everyone. JAR actually stands for Java ARchive...It is not an operating system specific file, it is just a type of compressed file, very similar to a zip file. :)
