Why Can't I Access the Nether on my Server?

I set the allow-nether=true in the server properties file. However, none of the nether portals are working. What am I doing wrong? (or not doing)

A little more information would go a long way to us being able to help you. Describe "not working", ie, when you hit it with flint does it come to life... etc.

Also maybe posting what plugins you have etc.

My guess would be you have a plugin installed that blocks flint from working, so it can't light the portal, but without a lot more information it's impossible to tell

I can create portals, but when I stand in them, it displays the swirling animation, but it doesn't actually take me to the Nether. I just stand there in the portal while my screen is swirling purple.

Nope. That didn't work. I've set up a temporary fix where I create a worldportal sign for ech person who has a Nether portal that takes the place of each person's nether portal. However, this won't be sufficient for long. Anybody have any other suggestions? The nether worked when I was running the server via Hamachi, but now that I pay for dedicated hosting it doesn't work. What went wrong?

Have you tried without any plugins loaded?

No. When I ran the server through Hamachi, I had already put plugins in.

Well that was working, until the signs started no longer taking us to the nether, but rather to some newly generated world. I checked the server files, and the real nether is still there. What's going on?
