Try disabling Kaspersky before starting the launcher. It's one of those AVs that causes the launcher difficulties.

Thanks for the advice but i dont think it is OS based since i have heard of other people having the same problem on win 7

Edit: Disabling Kaspersky worked! thanks for the help :)

I know, but there are also at least three different possible solutions to that problem, and i have no experience with this one, OR windows 8.

Theres a reason windows 8 is still in the dev verson. Currently, java and it are haveing some "slight technical difficulties", as in java not running/calling certain functions.

Windows 8 is NOT in dev. version. It's currently RTM and to be released to the public soon. I am running Windows 8 Enterprise currently with no antivirus and the same exact problem. Help would be appreciated but I have found a lack of it.
