UPDATE: I saw someone mention about checking installed mods on another forum page, so I looked at the only one I had installed. It turns out I was using the server version instead of the client version, Duh! (I have a private server, I just put it in the wrong directory). Now the game works the mod doesn't but I can live with that.

I did alot of searching and the only suggestion that seems to work for most people is redownloading the launcher and try using either the .exe or .jar and see one of those works for you.

I appear to have it solved, at least working anyway, but thanks for your advice. :)

How did you manage to solve it i am having the same problem

I updated at the bottom of the first post but basically it was because I was using the wrong mod version, I'd put the server version in the client directory. I just mixed them up. However I think the mod was the crafting bench 3, which no longer works with any versions I've played lately.

Not sure if that helps.
