0 andrewdonshik Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Really, it doesn't matter what your specs are if you have a laptop. Try testing it on a desktop or something.
0 skipabeat123 Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 why would i want to test it on a PC? i want to play MC with tekkit on my laptop.
0 andrewdonshik Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 why would i want to test it on a PC? i want to play MC with tekkit on my laptop. Maybe because on a desktop, IT PROBABLY WON'T LAG. That is all.
0 skipabeat123 Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 thank you youre such a help. Unfortunately i cant drag my PC all the way to my hometown where i used to live from the town where I study and backwords. I want to play on my laptop. Does any1 else have an idea that can help me solve this problem ON MY LAPTOP? Please help.

Try turning video settings down, or replacing the Optifine that is in Technic with standard.
0 skipabeat123 Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 I tried with the vid settings decrese. It didnt really helped the diffrence is between 1-3 fps. Replaced the Optifine with OptiFine HD B3 Standard for Minecraft 1.3.2 and it had no effect on the fps. The only thing that is making a diffrence is the render distance - when its Extreme my fps drops to 15 when its normal or tiny its between 25-29. When im playing clean minecraft without any mods my fps on maximum video settings are no lower than 100.
0 andrewdonshik Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 For one thing, no difference was made because you installed the 1.3.2 version. Did you install it to modpack.jar? FPS drops are normal, mods take up ram.
0 skipabeat123 Posted September 18, 2012 Author Posted September 18, 2012 I was changing the wrong file. But when i do with modpack.jar after seeing the MOJANG logo i get whitescreen and nothing happends after replacing the opti files. mods take up ram. arent 4GB of ram enough for tekkit ?
0 skipabeat123 Posted September 18, 2012 Author Posted September 18, 2012 For one thing, no difference was made because you installed the 1.3.2 version I just noticed that the Optifine version in my tekkit is 1.2.5_HD_S_C6
0 Burnout935 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 i have 4gb of ram on my laptop and i can run a minecraft server, at tekkit server, and the tekkit launcher and only use 3.6gb no matter how hard i try
0 andrewdonshik Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I just noticed that the Optifine version in my tekkit is 1.2.5_HD_S_C6 That means you installed it to minecraft.jar, not modpack. Install 1.2.5 standard to modpack.jar. Don't double post and burnout, don't threadjack.
0 Burnout935 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I dont know how to delete my first post which I found was in the wrong section, and I do not believe that I have threadjacked due to that I was giving him an answer to his question on the amount of ram he has dedicated. arent 4GB of ram enough for tekkit ? True I can see how I may have taken it a bit out of context but I thought is was applicable to have an example. Also may I suggest using the multi-core optifine, I find it increases fps about 30%
0 skipabeat123 Posted September 18, 2012 Author Posted September 18, 2012 After I got the white screen I cleared the cache in the launcher options. All mods were downloaded again and are back to their original state. And than I noticed that there WAS actually a diffrence in applying a different Optifine mod (v1.3.2).

He said he could allocate 4 GB, so it works.
0 Burnout935 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I have no idea where the 32-bit OS on a 64-bit computer part comes from, and I'm fairly sure that when someone ends a sentence with a question mark it constitutes a question, not a statement. The short version of what i said above is: Yes, 4gb is enough.
0 andrewdonshik Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I have no idea where the 32-bit OS on a 64-bit computer part comes from, and I'm fairly sure that when someone ends a sentence with a question mark it constitutes a question, not a statement. 32-bit OSes can only use 3.6 GB of RAM max. Also, it's not only the ram, but the GFX card and CPU.
0 Burnout935 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I have a 64-bit operating system. I can only get it to top out at 95% of 4 GB (which is 3.8 GB) but when standard services (I'm not going into specifics) are subtracted from the total of 3.8 GB I get a number around 3.565... which rounds to about 3.6 GB if my binary conversions are correct. Even so, my control panel system info reads 64-bit. And on the note of the GPU and CPU, I have an Intel Core i3 CPU M 330 @ 2.13 ghz and the stock integrated Intel HD Graphics in a HP G62 Notebook PC. 14 fps on short render is my normal benchmark fps.
0 Burnout935 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 So now, back to the topic of low fps...
0 andrewdonshik Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Short answer would be that your computer just can't handle it.
0 Burnout935 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 but sill 4 gb is plenty for tekkit (Only ever uses ~1.5 BG max on Extreme on my friends Mac Pro). and also, Skipabeat, have you tried ALL the options and are using the default texture pack? I have found that the texture pack, even if it is 16x16, can cause lag issues.

0 Burnout935 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I'm not entirely sure what caused that dual post...
0 skipabeat123 Posted September 18, 2012 Author Posted September 18, 2012 ofc im not using any aditional mods not any diffrent texture packs beside the default
0 Burnout935 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 is something dropping the priority of java.exe in task manager? It helps a bit to set it to high or realtime if possible. Otherwise, i'm out of ideas
0 skipabeat123 Posted September 19, 2012 Author Posted September 19, 2012 My java is set to high priority. But i managed to solve the problem! i followed the instructions from this guys video: especially the part with adding more virtual memory to my C: drive (but without the external flash memory) its set to 8099 - 20000MB(i have 60GB free space at my C: drive) and my tekkit WORKS LIKE A CHARM with 90 fps wherever i go. Allso Ive noticed the temperature drop of my laptop. The fan is spinning at "medium" speed not full as it did before. Runs more quiet. This solution worked really great for me. I think it should be pinned on the forum or shared with others in any other way . Thank you andrewdonshik and Burnout935 for your atention and help.
