Title: tekkit causing low fps

Version: 3.1.2

OS: Windows 7 64bit

Java Version: Version 7 Update 7 64bit

Description of Problem:

I am having low fps when playing minecraft with tekkit mod.

In "clean" minecraft im having 80 frames per second

when it comes to tekkit it drops down to 25fps.

Yesterday my system disc was formated and i have a fresh windows 7 installed with all the updates and all up to date drivers in 64bit version.

I have only one java version installed 64bit that is.

I have ge620dx MSI laptop

with 8 gigs of ram

geforce 555M graphics

IntelĀ® Core i5-2410M CPU 2.30Ghz 2.30Ghz

the problem occurs on tekkify server

i have 4GB alocated memory for tekkit (slected in its options)

decresed all the video settings to minimum but it helped just a bit

allso ive noticed that indoors my fps are 50ish but when i go out it goes down to 25

Is is just the fault of my low hardware preferences? or is it just software? please help me

Well, I didn't know you didn't have a desktop with you because you made it sound like you had one. Try turning video settings down, or replacing the Optifine that is in Technic with standard.

I tried with the vid settings decrese. It didnt really helped the diffrence is between 1-3 fps. Replaced the Optifine with OptiFine HD B3 Standard for Minecraft 1.3.2 and it had no effect on the fps. The only thing that is making a diffrence is the render distance - when its Extreme my fps drops to 15 when its normal or tiny its between 25-29.

When im playing clean minecraft without any mods my fps on maximum video settings are no lower than 100.

I was changing the wrong file. But when i do with modpack.jar after seeing the MOJANG logo i get whitescreen and nothing happends after replacing the opti files.

mods take up ram.

arent 4GB of ram enough for tekkit ?

I just noticed that the Optifine version in my tekkit is 1.2.5_HD_S_C6

That means you installed it to minecraft.jar, not modpack. Install 1.2.5 standard to modpack.jar.

Don't double post and burnout, don't threadjack.

I dont know how to delete my first post which I found was in the wrong section, and I do not believe that I have threadjacked due to that I was giving him an answer to his question on the amount of ram he has dedicated.

True I can see how I may have taken it a bit out of context but I thought is was applicable to have an example.

Also may I suggest using the multi-core optifine, I find it increases fps about 30%

After I got the white screen I cleared the cache in the launcher options. All mods were downloaded again and are back to their original state. And than I noticed that there WAS actually a diffrence in applying a different Optifine mod (v1.3.2).

You have a 32-bit OS on a 64-bit computer. That is completely unrelated. He said he could allocate 4 GB, so it works.

I have no idea where the 32-bit OS on a 64-bit computer part comes from, and I'm fairly sure that when someone ends a sentence with a question mark it constitutes a question, not a statement.

The short version of what i said above is:

Yes, 4gb is enough.

32-bit OSes can only use 3.6 GB of RAM max.

Also, it's not only the ram, but the GFX card and CPU.

I have a 64-bit operating system. I can only get it to top out at 95% of 4 GB (which is 3.8 GB) but when standard services (I'm not going into specifics) are subtracted from the total of 3.8 GB I get a number around 3.565... which rounds to about 3.6 GB if my binary conversions are correct. Even so, my control panel system info reads 64-bit. And on the note of the GPU and CPU, I have an Intel Core i3 CPU M 330 @ 2.13 ghz and the stock integrated Intel HD Graphics in a HP G62 Notebook PC. 14 fps on short render is my normal benchmark fps.

but sill 4 gb is plenty for tekkit (Only ever uses ~1.5 BG max on Extreme on my friends Mac Pro). and also, Skipabeat, have you tried ALL the options and are using the default texture pack? I have found that the texture pack, even if it is 16x16, can cause lag issues.

My java is set to high priority. But i managed to solve the problem! i followed the instructions from this guys video:

especially the part with adding more virtual memory to my C: drive (but without the external flash memory) its set to 8099 - 20000MB(i have 60GB free space at my C: drive) and my tekkit WORKS LIKE A CHARM with 90 fps wherever i go. Allso Ive noticed the temperature drop of my laptop. The fan is spinning at "medium" speed not full as it did before. Runs more quiet.

This solution worked really great for me. I think it should be pinned on the forum or shared with others in any other way :).

Thank you andrewdonshik and Burnout935 for your atention and help.
