Launcher opens fine, but when I open any modpack the window pops up white then closes.

Well ok, I understand that others have had the same problem, but all the answers are for Windows. I cant find the log in the folder, sorry.

http://forums.technicpack.net/threads/launcher-crashes-after-login.16906/ is probably the problem (and solution) you're having.

Yes, that is the problem, but when I first got Mountain Lion I did that, but as soon as I updated to Java 7 this started.

Then you've run into another problem entirely. LWJGL version 2.8.4 and lower is not compatible with Java 7 on OSX at this time (so says @LWJGL). You'll need to downgrade to Java 6.

Apple Java 6 for Mac OS X

For Java versions 6 and below, Apple supplies their own version of Java. Use the Software Update feature (available on the Apple menu) to check that you have the most up-to-date version of Java 6 for your Mac. For issues related to Apple Java 6 on Mac, contact Apple Support

Hmmm...

tepidpond, since you are more experienced in this than me, would it be theoretically possible to write a script that tells Minecraft to use the downgraded version of Java allowing you to keep both versions?

Yes Jorcer, that is possible. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the Mac system so I can't write the script. There are howtos scattered on the web though.
