Launcher won't download

Description of Problem:

The launcher wont download. When I click "Download the Tekkit Launcher", it gives me the option of Open, Save, or Save As. I clicked Save. So I went back and clicked "Download the Tekkit Launcher" to run it. It just gives me the same options I had before, Open, Save, and Save As. This problem has happened before, but somehow, I fixed it, but I don't know how I did it. Any advice???

Go to the save.

run.

Download it.

Get off the internet. It's not needed.

find out where your downloads are in browser

(In Firefox, its Tools> Downloads)

Double click the launcher.

You forgot to remind about downloading the correct version of Java.

He's on Windows XP. The launcher won't help him (still broken...patch is submitted but not yet accepted).

@brettbeat: You need to download the Linux/JAR file launcher. It's in the same place as the other launcher, just down the page about an inch. The file is 'technic-launcher-latest.jar'. When it's downloaded you can right click it, choose open with, and select Java in the window that opens. Enjoy tekkit.
