Upon double clicking the TechnicLauncher.exe file nothing is launched and the windows Technic Launcher has stopped working box from Windows pops up for a second and then goes away.
So nothing is installed, nothing is downloaded, it doesn't even get to any kind of a splash screen.
Things I have tried:
- running the launcher as administrator
- running the launcher in compatibility mode for windows 7 and as administrator
- running the launcher in compatibility mode for windows xp service pack 3
After looking in the event log I see the exception that is being thrown is System.IO.DirectoryNotFound (See logs in the Error Log section)
I am going to guess that the launcher is trying to check which version of windows is running but as to why it is causing a directory not found error I can't say, maybe I'm completely wrong.
I am a .net developer but I am planning on downloading eclipse and taking a peak at the source to see if I can figure out exatley where the problem is.
If any developers want to test this in Windows 8 check out the Windows 8 Release Preview which is free, I have an MSDN account which is how I am able to get the full version before it has gone public.
