Title: Tekkit slows down after a few minutes of multiplayer

Description of Problem:

When I log onto a multiplayer server, it runs smoothly for a few minutes, then it suddenly slows drastically and sometimes crashes.

First I thought it was my install, so I reinstalled Java, Minecraft and Tekkit, this was no help. Also, I ran into a problem with the techniclauncher.exe file, so I had to launch with the .jar file.

I then formatted my PC (been meaning to do it anyway). But the problem persisted.

I then looked at the logs and it seemed Matmos was causing problems, so I removed this, but I still have the problem.

I have tried on 2 servers- 1 is my own multiplay server, the other a public online server and I encounter the same problem on both. But playing in singleplayer seemed to work fine.

@Grindle, I cant do most of those things but I have tried other multiplayer tekkit servers, and i get the same problem, however on single and other mods I dont get this problem.

I have tried turning all the gfx down.

It is almost random when it decides to start lagging (also, I get a strange sound effect like splashing and electricity when it happens).

I have always used the default textures.

I dont have another computer unfourtunately.

I checked the link, it does look interesting but they are talking about forestry which isn't in Tekkit anymore. I will get one of my friends to remove all the MFEs when he logs on to see if thats the cause, (though if that was the case, surely other people would be having the problem.)

I think for now I'm just going to switch my server over to the DNS Techpack or something different, as Tekkit has been a very bumpy ride for me, I am getting problems that lots seem to have, to which there seems to be no fix. And no information about from official sources.

hold the phone! this may be the IC2 sound bug if that's the case. have you tried disabling IC2 sounds? if not, you should.

here's how you do it:

in your %appdata%\.techniclauncher\tekkit\config folder you will find a file named IC2.cfg

open that file with a text editor (it's large) and look for "soundsEnabled=true" then change the "true" to "false"

save the file

try to get the lag

Which is very strange, because I played Tekkit for 2 weeks problem free and I can run all my other games more smoothly now than when I first started playing Tekkit. I am highly confused.

It's weird, there doesn't seem to be any info in the logs about whats going wrong.

Worst thing is I am renting the server my friends and I play on so if I stop they lose all the stuff they built. D:

well, more likely it's a problem with some mod and how it interacts with your system. in that sense it's a hardware problem, but it doesn't mean your hardware is faulty or dying. sorry the IC2 sound thing did not fix it. I'm totally out of ideas now unfortunately.
