Filter not sorting properly

So I did a simple test.

1 chest for input, one filter that colors the items white and 3 chests for output with one tube colored white, the rest neutral.

The items do not get sent to the white tube. Why not? What is the purpose of coloring the item white then?

Ok I figured it out.

You need to color all the tubes. So I colored the 3 output tubes 1 white and 2 red and it sorts perfectly. But if you leave any tube neutral, as in not colored it will not work properly.

How about using a restriction tube at the uncolored tubes?
