Technic Launcher Updater crash on start on Windows 8

Operating System: Windows 8 Pro 64 bit English

Java Version: 1.7.0_07 64bit

Antivirus Program: Windows 8 Defender (built in Win8)

Description of Problem:

Technic Launcher Updater crash at startup on Windows 8. Tried also Windows 7/XP compatibility mode but it doesn't work.

Error Messages:

Technic Laucher has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution of the problem.

Try using the jar instead of the exe

I've been having this same problem, and every forum like this just says use the jar, but the jar doesn't work either. Are there any other solutions?

If you have a problem that you can't solve by reading the other topics, post your own. The reason so many other topics tell you to use the jar is because that solves most problems.

But only temporarily, hopefully whatever issue is happening can be fixed with the update :)
