Description of Problem:

The .exe launcher gives an "is not working properly" error on launch. I decided to download the .jar version to try that, works fine, launches tekkit, and the windows comes up but is completely white.

Just as a side note, before I get the typical copy and paste response, java is up-to-date, and the antivirus isn't blocking it. And I have gone through the FAQ and suggested solutions, which obviously don't work. Also, my graphics card is up-to-date, using the Nvidia auto-detect program.

Your java is not 64 bit, or your java doesn't know your os is 64 bit.

If you are sure you have 64 bit Java, make sure that you don't have any other versions of it (if you do, delete them)

actually, java is 64bit, and I don't have any other versions of java.

Works perfectly on 64bit windows7 (same java install)

As for keeping it all in the same OP, the EDIT field escaped me initially.

I realise the error log states

[12:53:33] [sEVERE]Is 64-bit: 'false'

but I am running 64bit java. Perhaps that's a launcher problem with Windows 8.

No, your Java is not. The log is saying that it is 32 bit. Re-download it. It is not aWindows 8 error as I have seen people use Windows 8 and not have this issue.
