Update Failed on Linux (other forums are about Windows)

Launcher Version: 3.1.2 ~ 1.2.5 ~ Latest

Operating System: LinuxMint

Java Version: JRE 1.7

Antivirus Program:

Description of Problem:

I have the newest versions of minecraft and the technic launcher working, but when I try and upgrade on my Linux box, the upgrade fails.

I have tried changing permissions on the files, clearning the cache, changing the version of the launcher manually - nothing is working.

Obviously it's not the virus software because this is Linux ; )

Why are you asking a forum for a modpack for help updating your computer?

Fyi, just because you're running Linux, doesn't mean you're immune to viruses. Get your nose out if the sky.

I am not trying to update Linux, I am trying to update the Technic Launcher.

As far as viruses on Linux, heh.

You did not say that. You said
