What's going to happen to tekkit?

Tekkit is the only form of minecraft I play. There is a rumor going around that the technic pack may be no more. The server that I'm currently on may be moving towards FTB.

Will the next version of tekkit ever be released? Yes? Maybe? Probably not? Eventually? Or is it dead?

I would be satisfied with any of those answers.

Tekkit might not exist anymore, but only because circumstances will cause Technic to fill the same function. Also, locking this, because there are several threads about this already.
