SwitchView Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 I could REALLY use some explanation to this. I have searched google and other places, and nothing can explain this to me. I run a tekkit SMP Server for a group of about 10 of us, and tonight while we were playing, I have no idea what in gods name happened.. It started off with, random water source blocks would just appear, out of nowhere. Sometimes, you could just be standing there, then BAM it would appear. I was up in the sky once, and it looked like water source blocks came flying out of the sky and hit the group and spread water everywhere. Now water, is not a big deal, easy to fix and easy to clean up. What happened next, is beyond me. Lava, lava everywhere. It just started appearing, laval source blocks, slowly at first, just like the water, they just appeared in thin air out of nowhere. It started slowly at first, a source block here and there, then it all of a suddenly just started happening everywhere. Soon we had a entire forest on fire with over 5 source lava blocks, then our house caught fire with 5 or 6 source blocks, then they just started appearing all over the landscape randomly, just everywhere. At this point, I gave all of us OP powers and we just sat there for a good hour cleaning crap up, for it to keep appearing left and right. As the night dragged on, it started to slow down and then it just stopped. We are now left with half a house, and holes and cobblestone and obsedian everywhere from us trying to contain this mess. During this whole mess, one of my friends claimed that he say lava source blocks shoot up from the ground and into the air and then the source blocks appeared. I would REALLY like a explanation as to what is going on. I do not have any extras on the server or anything, just tekkit. The server is whitelisted for just us, and there was no one else that joined, and the server cmd box did nothing this entire time. So, can someone please tell me what is going on? If it somehow was griefing, how could I figure out who it was? EDIT: Something to add, rain kept turning off and on every minute or so during this whole event.
Xylord Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 What about the log? Could you post it from the period of those events? Sounds like a griefer to me, but I'm not sure how it could be possible if you have a whitelist.
SwitchView Posted November 11, 2012 Author Posted November 11, 2012 We originally thought it was a griefer, but there are only 6 of us are whitelisted on the server, and only 5 of those 6 were on. Where can I find this server log? I cant see it in any obvious place. EDIT: I found server.log but its blank.
The_DarthMoogle Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 These are the rings from Equivalent Exchange. The tell was the rain going on and off, shooting the Evertide Amulet or the blue Ring of Arcana into the sky will do that. These rings are also capable of creating lava and water source blocks. As for how to combat them, there are multiple server related threads detailing fixes and rollback methods. Although I would just ban them outright; they serve little purpose other than doing harm.
SwitchView Posted November 11, 2012 Author Posted November 11, 2012 I'll look into that. A question I have, is can the rings make the blocks just appear in the middle of the air? Such as 90% of the water blocks just appeared floating in the air.

The user can also make more than one source block appear at a time.
