Description of Problem:

During the login process, the launcher brings up the message "Update Failed!" then does not continue to load

Update your Java to version 7u9 and turn off Norton. Then redownload the Launcher

i have done this and it still doesn't work, ive let the program through the fire wall and everything i think the update to minecraft broke the allowance of the technic launcher to download minecraft.jar which i see in his errors that is what is failing to download, i have tried everything that i could think of and everything i could find on the internet and it still doesn't work, so if you could give a better solution than turn off anti virus and fire wall and update java (which i did), i even uninstalled the previous versions

Could you post the log from after you updated your Java? EDIT: Hold on, you aren't the OP so nevermind. If you have a similar issue, you should post your own bug report. That gives us all of the important info we need to help you.
