Description of Problem:

A day ago , i tried to get on my friends server so i clicked on development build and it worked but now i need to to get on this other server and i need like railcaft.. and those kind of mods. so i tried to delete it and redownload and downloading things but nothing worked . Pleaseee Help Me!

In the Technic launcher go into options and select " Always use developement builds" if its the error I think it is it should auto update after that

Possible solution (worked for me)

1. Download minecraft.jar manually for the modpack you need. As some modpacks run on different Minecraft versions, please choose the modpack you want to use: Tekkit, Technic, Yogbox, Hack Slash Mine, Voxel Modpack
   
2. Rename the minecraft.jar to minecraft_1.2.5.jar (Tekkit and Technic), minecraft_1.2.3.jar (Yogbox and Hack/Mine), minecraft_1.3.2.jar (Voxel Modpack)
   
3. Place the renamed file into %APPDATA%\.techniclauncher\cache (you can open the start menu then type %APPDATA% for quick access).
   
4. Launch the launcher, select your desired modpack and it should work.

I did all the steps listed above but it still didn't work, have any suggestions. Also to rename the file did you have to open the containing folder or not?

If that didn't work just re-instal the launcher or install it on another computer then put it on a U.S.B. because sometimes it dosen't download correctly/fully on some systems(not exactly sure though) that or because your internet took too long to respond to the request and timed out where as on another computer there might be a stronger signal or something to do with your internet or your computer. also before you try that try to run the launcher as administrator, running in that mode 55% of the time fixes most problems.
