Update failed- Never ran tekkit before

Operating System: Windows 7

Antivirus Program: Norton

Description of Problem:

The update failed and I tried the fix by manually downloading miencraft 1.2.5 but the problem is i've never run tekkit before so it won't work.

Turn off norton and redownload

^if that fails then:

1. Download minecraft.jar manually for the modpack you need. As some modpacks run on different Minecraft versions, please choose the modpack you want to use: Tekkit, Technic, Yogbox, Hack Slash Mine, Voxel Modpack
   
2. Rename the minecraft.jar to minecraft_1.2.5.jar (Tekkit and Technic), minecraft_1.2.3.jar (Yogbox and Hack/Mine), minecraft_1.3.2.jar (Voxel Modpack)
   
3. Place the renamed file into %APPDATA%\.techniclauncher\cache (you can open the start menu then type %APPDATA% for quick access).
   
4. Launch the launcher, select your desired modpack and it should work.
   

I know you said you already tried the fix, but you stated that it won't work because you haven't played Tekkit before. It will work. The .techniclauncher folder is generated upon your first Technic Launcher launch. Just follow the instructions to the letter and it should work.

That's if turning off Norton doesn't solve it though, so try the above solution first.

THANK YOU! I had the same problem with the same situation and now it's making progress! YAY finally Tekkit with my bf!! (bestfriend and boyfriend both fit there btw)
