technic launcher will not download

Operating System: windows 7

Java Version: JRE 7

Antivirus Program: AVG

Description of Problem:

the technic launcher says that it won't download and tells me to go to a website that does not exist: techniclauncher.net

Error Messages:

Unable to download launcher. Please check your internet connection by opening www.techniclauncher.net in your webbrowser.

Error Log:

Turn off AVG and redowload.

Also, that isn't a log, that is the name of the log.

I did that, but it still reads the same error message.

Also, the log wouldn't fit in the 500 char limit

Try using the .jar version of the Technic Launcher.

You can download it standalone from here.

how do I run the .jar?

Just double click it. If it asks what you want to open the file with, choose 'Java Platform SE Binary'.
