lukeb28 Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 I have used ip chicken to find my home ip and when I copy that into my new server that seems to be running properly, it says that it cannot reach the server. I am unsure of what to do as this is my first server. Before anyone asks, I have goggled it and searched it on this site but all I have found was help for after you connect to the server. I have not tried it on hymachi and would rather not use it but if I have to I will. Any help would be appreciated and I hope this is actually taken seriously. Quote
TheSpoonyOne Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 You need to port-forward your server bud. Also, if you are using the same pc the server is running from, use the ip 'localhost' But again, if you want others to connect to your server, without hymachi, then you need to port-forward. http://portforward.com/ Quote
Djinnii Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 I'd also recomend using a service like no-ip.org or dyndns.org to give you a static hostname rather than having your users connect to an IP which is likely dynamic. Quote
lukeb28 Posted December 14, 2012 Author Posted December 14, 2012 Ok. Thank you for the suggestions. I will try these as soon as I can. Quote
Djinnii Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 That's in addition to Spoony's post, not instead of by the way. You will need to do what Spoony said to be able to properly achieve what I said. Quote
lukeb28 Posted December 14, 2012 Author Posted December 14, 2012 Alright. If I cannot get this to work I'll just use Hymachi. I am new to servers so I have no clue about port forwarding but I will try and learn it. Quote
lukeb28 Posted December 14, 2012 Author Posted December 14, 2012 Alright, I have gotten my server working and my computer sees it using hymachi but now I have a new problem, It says that I don't have the right mods installed. mod_IC2 v1.103 mod_ComputerCraft 1.41 mod_CCTurtle 1.41 mod_Railcraft 5.4.7 I am unsure of what to do from here. Any ideas? EDIT: Fixed! just had to use the latest build and not the reccomended. Sort of working now but with a ton of lag. Im trying to fix that now Quote
