I try to load v2.0.1 and when I click play, the launcher closes, then just reopens with no sign of the game attempting to load, any fixes for this?

yes, play the Recommended version.

the 2.0.1c was under development by Skuli, until he quit because real life took priority. It is not a working version of Hexxit.
