Technic Launcher .jar not working on Mac

I downloaded the launcher for my mac, but when I click on the launcher.jar it shows up as "java" on my hotbar and loads as a technic logo, and it just freezes there and doesn't do anything. I've tried re downloading the file but it has the same result

Which is because you have either Java 9 or Java 10, and you need Java 8.
