if me and a have have a world we play together, and they got a new computer and logged on to the same minecraft account, will the game still know it's them? and if so, does it work for modpacks

Minecraft accounts have a certain ID. This ID does not change past about 1.7.10, when namechanges were introduced. Before 1.7.10, namechanges weren't supported, but as long as they keep the same name, the server won't know any better than it being the same person.
