Whats the differance between Tekkit Classic and Lite?

Hey. I just got back from a vacation in Mexico without internet or comunication to the outside Minecraft/Tekkit world. Before I went all I knew about was the standard default Tekkit. Now I have come back and I see it has been replaced with Tekkit Classic and Tekkit Lite. What I want to know is what is the differance between them? and will my old server still work? Thanks.

Tekkit Classic is still in Minecraft 1.2.5, but has Bukkit and a few less mods. Tekkit Lite has no Bukkit, but is Minecraft 1.4.6 and a few more mods. The idea is that smaller servers can still play on MC 1.4.6, but of course larger, more plugin-dependent servers will have to stick with classic until ForgeBukkit updates, along with all the ports. Lite does include some server-controlling functions, such as a protection system, but it's not as varied and expansive as the Bukkit plugins.
