I'm looking at hosts for a moderate sized Tekkit server. Some hosts, such as Exodus, offer cheaper plans with more RAM on HDD servers, and then charge more for less RAM on servers using SSD's.

On a moderately sized Tekkit Classic server, which would benefit more? For example, for the same price, should I get an HDD server with 3Gb of ram, or an SSD server with 2GB?

Thanks!

It depends on how many people will be on it and what you intend to do with it. They both sound good but with past experience I would say the more RAM the better, you will find if you make your server public you will probably need more than 2 - 3 Gb of RAM depending on how well you maintain it and how many/what plugins you have!

Saying that my old, old server lasted with 1Gb of RAM for about 3 weeks with about 10 daily visitors, in this situation try and ask yourself which one will be better in terms of support etc... Seriously if you get one that takes 48 hours to reply to your ticket when the server isn't working, it's annoying.

You should get the one with more RAM and a HDD. An SSD doesn't really give that much of a performance boost in terms of server hosting. RAM will do more good than the SSD will.

I used to use Exodus and then switched to TekkitHost for the SSDs. You should definitely start out with Exodus because it is so cheap. Later maybe you should switch to TekkitHost though.
