"Error parsing platform response" when you try to load a custom pack on MAC/PC

EliasErik

Question

Launcher Version: Build 195

Operating System: Windows 7, Mac OS X Lion

Java Version: Windows: Oracle JRE 7, Mac: Apple JRE 6

Antivirus Program: Symantic Endpoint Protection

Description of Problem:

When you try to add a custom pack (example: Big Dig), nothing works, all it says is "Error parsing platform response". This is a bug for both Windows and Mac. Also, Mac has a bug with the "Latest Build" selection on custom packs, and YogBox does not have any mods on the "Latest Build". Yes, I'm a bug-hunter.

Error Messages:

Error parsing platform response

Error Log:

None. Not a logged type of error.

The same is happening to me when I try to play on custom mod packs, not sure what the issue is, but the website for the Technic Platform itself seems a bit slow and unstable( I have visited over 50 other websites, none run slow.) I hope the awesome Technic team gets this fixed asap!

Guys. The "add beta in the link" thing works. When you get the link to add and you see the "error parsing platform response" message, click the link, DELETE "www." in the link, and add "beta.". If you do not delete "www." it will say it is invalid.

Example: http://beta.technicpack.net/api/modpack/example

Incorrect example: http://www.beta.technicpack.net/api/modpack/example

Downloaded just fine, however Optifine crashed the pack on run

Recommend running as admin AND ensure that the program temp.exe (AppData\Roaming\.technic\temp.exe) is cleared by your AV, Firewall and any other defences, especially sandboxers

Please note that said exe does not appear to exist until launcher requires it (I'm not joking) but without it custom packs will not be set-up
