Vanilla Minecraft part of the old launcher won't update to 1.5

Launcher Version: 1.0.2.0 (one with the icon)

Operating System: Macbook Pro

Java Version: 1.6.0_33

Description of Problem:

When i try to open vanilla minecraft, it tries to download the jar 3 times, and then it says "update failed." When i try putting the 1.5 jar in the bin folder for vanilla, it doesn't seem to accept the jar, and still tries to download the jar. If you are wondering why i don't just run Minecraft, it's cause the app and the website don't work, but the old launcher does.

It's a security measure to ensure you don't get a malicious jar via the launcher but the mirror hasn't been patched to recognize minecraft 1.5

All you can do is wait for the team to update minecraft.yml
