Massive server slowdown due to Buildcraft contraptions?

Question

Posted

Launcher/pack Version: 2.1.1

Operating System: Windows 7 64 bit

Version of Java: 1.7u3

So the basic server setup on the tekkit homepage has been servicable up to this point.

I made a simple group of Macerators and Electric Furnaces. What would happen is that ore would go through a sorting process and enter the macerator, then travel to the furnace, then to a chest. They are powered by a generator/batbox and fibre cables. Bug: Every hour or so the iron pipes connected to the machine would reset themselves.

But the real problem is the massive, MASSIVE lag I've gotten a couple of times when entering the chunk containing this machinery. It is the worst lag I have ever seen in minecraft, and I'm wondering if this is because I left the machinery on while I went exploring, what else I should not be making to avoid this, or if I just hit an unlucky bug.

Thanks

you probably are lagging due to massive amounts of items on the ground. if you want to leave it running while you're gone, get some chunk loader blocks up in there

The iron pipes that reset are caused when they receive a redstone current, it has happened before, that can cause your items to either end up in an endless loop or fall to the ground depending on your setup. As the post above stated, try to use the chunk loader blocks to alleviate the issues of blocks falling out of pipes due to no player being withing range of the chunks that need to be loaded.
