blackrave Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Hi guys, first thread here So whenever I pick custom modpack launcher 1. Downloads files from Minecraft.net- this goes fast and without issues 2. Downloads archived modpack itself- kinda slow, but I understand that it's bandwidth issue 3. Sets up mod- and it is SLOOOOOOOOOOOW as hell (and lags my machine) For example I tried to get Aether Super+ Experimental pack http://www.technicpack.net/modpack/details/aether-super-pack.56541 steps 1&2 went ok, 3rd step lasted for more than 3h and I was forced to stop it (because I have other things to do) Other modpacks behave in similar manner. Is this normal? If yes, then why? And can I somehow instal modpacks manually? If no, then why this is happening? And how can I fix this? TIA Quote
Richs_Yard Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Try increasing your allocated RAM. That might help. Quote
blackrave Posted April 23, 2013 Author Posted April 23, 2013 inc Try increasing your allocated RAM. That might help. Increased as much as launcher allowed (only 1Gb for some reasons) According to status bar launcher does things, but unpacking drags insanely slow Quote
Spongeman131 Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Are you running 64-bit or 32-bit OS? If you're running 32-bit, you are limited to the amount of RAM you can allocate, assuming you've got a non-integrated graphics card, the system would only have about 3GB left to use (and that's assuming you've maxed out your RAM at 4GB as well). Torezu Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 It sounds like you have 32-bit Java, if it's only letting you allocate that much RAM. However, unpacking mod packs should not really be using much in the way of system resources, so I don't know what's going on from that end. Quote
blackrave Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 Is there any way to manually instal a modpack then? Quote
